I just want you to realize that yoga is not about touching your toes.
About your Teacher
Certified Yoga Therapist C-IAYT
I could not imagine a life without yoga. I don't mean me and my practice, I mean I already know how much I love it, but because I can share yoga with others and hopefully they love it so much, they too will share with others.
What kind of yoga do I teach?
Well, I teach yoga to the super beginner. I am a yoga therapist so I slow things waaay down. I have had over 17 years of teaching and trainings, but I have learned the most from hundreds of clients, who, like you have bodies and want to feel better.
As Soon As Possible!
Imagine a class where you can ask questions, get full detail on how to move and help you design a class specifically for you. Whether its a group class or private class, you are always my focus.
I teach small group classes and classes by appointment.
I am an E-RTY 1000 hr certified teacher and yoga therapist. Registered Yoga Teacher 1000+ hours. I have been teaching for more than 17 years and practicing yoga for more than 30 years.
The "E" means experience. Along with experience comes knowledge and wisdom on how the body moves, breathes and can feel.
I put an emphasis on being a "Certified Yoga Therapist" because my job is not only to teach you how to help yourself, but to help you get stronger, less stressed, more flexible or whatever your goal is.
I am not an instructor.. If ya call me a "yoga instructor, " I will make you drop and give me 50 planks! (kidding). (maybe)
I teach the kind of yoga you need. Yoga therapy is about you and your body and where you are today and where you want to be in 30 - 60 - 90 days.
As a teacher I bring in my 16+ years of training, teachings and a lifetime of experience I have taken to help you where you are today and where you want to be tomorrow.
My foundation of yoga is ISHTA yoga. ISHTA means "individual and is also an acronym for
Integrated Science of Hatha Tantra and Ayurveda
Hatha Yoga is a combination of breath and movement (asanas).
Tantra Yoga is bout awakening and harmonizing the male and female aspects within each person. Balance, The word Tantra in Sanskrit means weave or expand. We want to weave together many yoga practices, and other spiritual styles and teachings, in order to connect with others and the universe.
Ayurveda is the traditional Hindu system of medicine, which also includes yoga and breathing.
Tantric Yogi's weave all the things we have learned, tricks on our path, various methods, experiences, skills and we use this in our very own life. And though this, we teach others.
Since we are all individuals with different pasts, it is important to know many different paths we can take when practicing yoga.
Yoga Therapy is like studying the tree of life itself. Instead of limiting itself to any single branch of the tree, it's learning many schools of thought and weaving it all together. I also make sure that I am in touch with leading doctors and yoga therapists world wide.
I have worked closely with the medical community including oncologists, chiropractors, physical therapists to help develop a more holistic and preventative health program for my clients.
I have also worked with a range of conditions, including: cancer, diabetes, heart disease, back pain, obesity, shoulder, knee and hip injuries, fibromyalgia and more. I am registered with International Association of Yoga therapists.
IAYT supports research and education in Yoga and serves as a professional organization for Yoga teachers and Yoga therapists worldwide. Their mission is to establish Yoga as a recognized and respected therapy.
I attend SYTAR The Symposium of Yoga Therapy and Research annually. This event brings for the latest Yoga in the medical and therapy fields.
In 2014 I opened a small yoga studio in Altadena California, Yoga Divina.
I was a member of El Concillio at City of Hope for 4 years helped and create newsletters in Spanish for cancer survivors. I have also taught yoga workshops at local hospitals which are sponsored by Susan G. Korman Foundation.
As a Cancer Survivor and a yoga therapist, I know first hand how yoga can help with stress, body changes and life.
I like to work with those who not only want to feel better they need to feel better both inside and out. Yoga offers both.
I love sharing what I know. I love seeing people stretch and smile. I love hearing that people feel better. I love knowing they sleep better. I love that people share what I teach them.
I think yoga should be fun and not frightening; enlightening and not intimidating. My classes are intense and informative. My goal is that you will be able to use what you learn in class with me at home when you need to relax, stretch or just want to touch your toes!
At the end of the day we all want feel better and so I help you open up on the out side so you can open up on the inside.
I studied with some great teachers: Alan Finger, Rachel Zinnman Dana Flynn, Shiva Rea, and Nischala Joy Devi, Gary Kraftsow, Twee Merrigan and more. I first started my teachers training as a way to further my own understanding about yoga, but also as a way to help heal myself and then others. Soon realized there was a lot more to yoga than meets the eye. I thank my teachers for guiding me in a way to help others!
